Horizon Europe is the European Union’s research and innovation investment program.
With a budget of €100 billion earmarked for the period 2021-2027, it is the most ambitious Framework Program for Research and Innovation to date.
Based on the Commission’s proposal for Horizon Europe, the common agreement includes a new eligibility criterion for accessing Horizon Europe funding:
From 2022, public bodies, research organizations and higher education institutions wishing to apply must have a Gender Equality Plan.
This seeks to ensure sustainable institutional change, with greater participation of women in science and research programs, better integration of the gender dimension in the contents of research projects, and expansion of Gender Equality policies and their intersections with the aim of avoiding this and other forms of discrimination.
