A significant advance in the fight against COVID-19: an Argentine researcher develops a test for the simplified detection of the virus

At an unprecedented moment, in which science -at a global level- is urgently seeking to provide solutions to the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Carolina Carrillo (CONICET Researcher, Director of the ICT Milstein CONICET Research and Development Group) with her research team has developed a rapid application (and low cost) test for the detection of the virus.

This creation represents a very relevant advance in the fight against this disease in Argentina and could contribute to other countries that are going through a critical situation (at a health, social and economic level).

Exclusively for the UNESCO Chair for Women, Science and Technology in Latin America, Dr. Carrillo -in dialogue with Gloria Bonder- tells in this video how this achievement was reached and the benefits it brings. She also highlights the importance for women scientists of promoting gender equality both in their professional careers and in their personal lives. Her experience is inspiring and demonstrates the need for the participation of women and men in the development of science and technology that provides innovative and accessible responses to social and environmental issues, ensuring the well-being of people.
