Important award granted to Inés Sánchez de Madariaga

Our Network is proud to announce that Ines Sanchez de Madariaga, Director of the UNESCO Chair in Gender Equality Policies in Science, Technology and Innovation at the Polytechnic University of Madrid has received an award. 

She received the MITMA Group’s Matilde Ucelay Award for personal trajectory. This award publicly recognizes those activities that, in the field of gender perspective, are developed in the transport sector, mobility or urban agenda.

This award highlighted the pioneering work carried out by Professor Sánchez de Madariaga internationally in the fields of gender, urban planning and transport, and in particular her contribution to transport policies with the concept of “mobility of care”. Professor Sánchez de Madariaga created the first Spanish research group on gender and urbanism, and has more than 25 years of experience. Her innovative work has paved the way for gender mainstreaming in professional and institutional practices.
