UNESCO Regional Chair Women, Science and Technology in Latin America, through its coordinator, Gloria Bonder, participated in the X Ibero-American Congress of Scientific Education.
The Congress focuses on “the teaching and learning of science at different educational levels and promotes debate among teachers and researchers in order to contribute to the promotion of scientific education of the citizen according to the requirements of current societies” (http://www.cieduc.org/).
Gloria Bonder participated in the panel: Gender and Educational Inclusion in STEM, where she presented the topics of scientific and technological education that are of interest to young women and men and which are the fundamental principles of STEAM education. Also, she talked about the access and participation of girls and young women in scientific areas and the inequalities in professional careers, among other topics.
The event was organized by UNESCO Chair in Education Sciences in Latin America and the Caribbean, the Education Training Council and the Regional Bureau for Sciences in Latin America and the Caribbean – UNESCO – Montevideo. It was held in Montevideo from March 25th to March 28th, 2019.
